Week 2 – Sarah’s blog – Tuesday 26th January 2016
This week was magical. I was in the group in the church, while a second group was now working in the church library next door. Doreen Quinell, one of the church’s vice-presidents, led our group, gently taking us into a place of relaxation with a few well-chosen words. She has a lovely energy and soon the silence took over. The calm in the room was palpable. The lights in the church had been turned down low and this allowed me to gently relax into the darkness, not searching with my eyes or mind for what I should be seeing or sensing. It is hard to tell you what happened because I simply entered into that place of stillness, of allowing where one can feel one’s own energy, and when the time was right, become a vessel to receive messages or guidance from spirit.
Like many on the spiritual journey, I had explored the doctrines of meditation, yoga, Buddhist and non-dualist teachings. They all spoke of not doing anything, of merely being, of sinking into the eternal awareness, the presence or spirit. Ultimately, the word you use for it doesn’t matter. I had found going to certain development circles difficult because they seemed the least ‘still’ places on earth, with people having all kinds of exotic experiences, their minds busier than Victoria station! It left me wondering what I was doing there, and why had I even wanted to become a medium.
This was different. If one approached it focusing only on having a genuine connection with spirit, one did not have to be concerned with the outcome. Whatever way you were meant to work with spirit would arise naturally. As Doreen slowly brought us back from the meditation, for me, the energy in the room was beautiful. None of us could believe a full half-hour had gone by. Afterwards Doreen asked us how it had been and if there were any questions, and quite surprisingly, for a development circle in its second week, there were few. Words were not necessary. In fact, we just sat silently for a little longer in the darkness together, bathing in the simple energy. I was already looking forward to next week
