Sarah’s blog –April 26th – Week II
Because the group was now smaller, the process of getting to know the other people in the circle was becoming a delight. It is always the case that when you bring people together in a group, as long as there is a sense of trust and respect, a lovely energy arises. It is something that is inbuilt in us. Coming together, congregating…congregation. Man has been using the group energy to lift his consciousness for millennia. Intuitively, we move towards making a sacred space, and most powerfully, together. It makes me think of that beautiful part in the bible where Jesus says “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” It was lovely to sit in the warm half-light of the library, to hear the gentle breathing of others, to see their silhouettes beautifully still save the occasional rustle or cough, as we all inexorably moved into a space where spirit and love could touch us. Awe-inspiring when you think about it.
What was intriguing too was that although we all spoke at the beginning of the circle, even if it was just small talk, and again afterwards, the silence in between was no barrier to us getting to know each other. If anything, the silence did quite the opposite, helping to build a special connection, a spiritual one. We might not know each other outside these four walls, but we could all just ‘be’ in the gentleness of this energy, words were not necessary as this intimacy with self, others and spirit occurred. I was also aware of how healing sitting in the circle was. A few times this week I noticed people seemed to be receiving very deep healings from spirit, their faces quite literally transformed after the 45 minutes of silent circle, as if they were born again. There was joy and refreshment in their expressions where before there had been world-weariness or tension. We forget that we have access to this healing at all times, that sometimes we need to make ‘the space’ to receive it, to allow it into our lives.
A few things were explored after the circle, some had mentioned headaches when they were sitting in circle and the general feeling was that while the energy was becoming stronger for many of them, because people were too much in their heads, it was causing pressure. It was about loosening the mind, allowing the energy to expand out into the energy field around the head and body. Another asked about feedback, they wanted someone to tell them if they were doing it right, to even confirm to them spirit was connecting with them. Doreen gave a very insightful answer. She said that this was about your own personal bond with spirit, it would tell you all you needed to know, and you wouldn’t need anyone to reassure you about it because you would have a kind of certainty about the bond. That certainty of when you “just know”, or for example when you first meet the love of your life, when you have an absolute hunch or just the certainty of a child’s love as it gazes into your eyes. It was the sweetness of life, it was a gift and it wasn’t complicated. It felt to me innocence was very much the theme of this week.
And on that note, I went home and slept like a baby.
